Amongst the thanksgiving Eve craziness I managed to look at my phone at 11:11 and 11:11.
Weird.

I love this. For my boys when the time comes….Here are basics:
1. She's smarter than you.
2. She's beautiful
3. She's kind and nurturing
4. She's vivacious
5. She loves you with all her heart
6. She's willing to make compromises
7. She feels like home
8. She's more than happy to tell you when you are wrong
9. She is strong, but feminine
10. She's passionate

Hitler's Furies by Wendy Lower
Anna and I went to hear Wendy Lower speak at UVM tonight about her book, Hitler's Furies: German Women in the Nazi Killing Fields.
Much more interesting than the last speaker we heard. She started on this research in 1992 when she was in Gitomer, Ukraine (about 100 miles from Kiev). This was just after the wall went down and she got access to previously sealed documents from WWII. She found women mentioned in many documents and photos of women with groups of men.
She gave us the stories of 3 women in particular who she knew by name and had researched their particular roles. In general there were lots of women who became witnesses, accomplished and even murderers in the holocaust. One woman shot a couple boys who jumped off a train.
The several young women she highlighted were powerful and were an integral part - and it's was very hard to believe that these young women could have done what they did. Certainly an eye opener for me.

Another concussion
well. Today Scott got his second concussion playing in the high school D2 finals game against Rice. Of course it was made a little complicated by the fact that I am in Minsk and Mark was en route back to Switzerland. Never a dull moment.
